People Tulsa
Global Alliance has brought international visitors to Tulsa for more than 20 years
through various professional vistior programs.
Leaders and prominent citizens
from virtually every nation participate in the International
Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), sponsored
by the US Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA).
TGA is one of 95 Councils for
International Visitors across the country. Future leaders and prominent citizens
from around the world participate in this program and visit U.S. cities to meet
with various business professionals and participate in cultural activities and
home hospitality. The
Open World Russian Leadership Program brings to Tulsa
emerging Russian leaders to experience U.S. democracy and free enterprise in action
in the United States. As
part of the United States' effort to assist the former USSR with its transition
to a free market economy, the United States Department of State launched the Business
for Russia (BFR) project in late 1993. The Community
Connections Program is an outgrowth of BFR and includes other countries which
were part of the former USSR. Through the Community Connections project, professionals
from the former Soviet Union learn about Western business and professional practices
and apply this new information to build stronger economies. A
recent addition, TGA hosts Youth Ambassador Programs, funded by the US Department
of State. High schools students visit Tulsa to attend school, live with host families
and learn how to be better ambassadors for their country. Past programs have included
amabassadors from Serbia and Brazil. In 2009, TGA will host visitors from Turkey
and Brazil. Back to top through
