Kids' World offers many opportunities for a teacher to expand the role of international education in the classroom. From workshops to the Kids' World international curriculum, there are many opportunities to learn more about global issues and how to include them in your lesson plans.

 

Workshops
Tulsa Global Alliance, in conjunction with the Tulsa World Newspaper in Education Program, hosts two workshops prior to Kids' World to provide teachers tools for teaching global respect and understanding in their classrooms. In order to enhance the Kids' World field trip experience, these workshops also provide orientation sessions to help teachers prepare for the festival.

Kids' World will present a fall workshop. Time and location to be announced.

Other educational intiatives have included a 10-week geography series in the newspaper, which featured Tulsa's eight Sister Cities, geography game contest, tolerance workshops and Culture Box workshops.

Field Trips

Any public, private or home school* is invited to schedule a field trip to Kids' World. Field trips are available on Thursday and Friday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Visit our Field Trip information page for details and to reserve your trip.

Kids' World 2008 takes place November 13-16 at the QuikTrip Center at the Tulsa Expo Square. Admission is $3 for children 12 and under and $4 for adults. If teachers reserve a field trip, for every 7 students, 1 adult receives free admission. Click here for more Festival details.

* Home school groups and other organizations are encouraged to select afternoon time slots when there are fewer students and time restrictions.


Classroom Activities
Did you know Kids' World meets numerous PASS Objectives for grades K-5 in a variety of subject areas, including math, science, art, geography, social studies, P.E. and others?

Teacher Resources
Tulsa Global Alliance offers many educational programs to help teach international awareness and understanding to youth, including the Culture Box Program, which provides hands-on experiences to enhance any international lesson. The Tulsa World offers its Newspapers in Education, which can help students learn about international current events. The Tulsa Library has a major collection of international children's books, great for book reports and teacher resources.
