Global Youth Alliance

Mission/History:
The Global Youth Alliance (GYA) is the youth component
of Tulsa Global Alliance (TGA). Membership is open to any high school or middle
school student in the Tulsa metropolitan area. Established in 1992 as the International
Youth Coalition, the mission of GYA is to encourage activities that promote cultural
and global awareness and celebrate young peoples' understanding of the ethnic
diversity within the Tulsa community. |
Organization:
Our organization, whose adult sponsor is TGA's Vice President
of Global Education, elects annual officers who help plan the year's activities.
GYA members host an annual Welcoming Celebration each year for visiting international
exchange students attending Tulsa area schools. Monthly activities are planned
to help expand the global horizons of Tulsa youth and foster relationships with
visiting students. |
Activities:
Past activities have included: Group dinners out at area
ethnic restaurants, panel discussions on global topics, expert speakers on current
events, group attendance at area festivals and events, and a Superbowl party.
Tasty international food paired with favorite musical selections from CDs shared
by international students make the annual "Dance to the Global Beat"
party a favorite. GYA offers its members volunteer opportunities through various
TGA events such as the Global Vision Dinner and the Community Connections Program.
GYA also sponsors a booth at Kids' World. |
