Amiens, France
Since October 2005

Amiens
is Tulsa's newest Sister City. An urban city of 170,000, it is the capital of the region known as LaPicardie. It is the largest French city between Paris and the English Channel. Historically established by Paris officials as a center for population growth within a triangle formed by Paris, London, and Brussels, it is a crossroad of 3 major highways, with train service and a local airport. Located along the Somme River, the historical city center's buildings, which date from the Middle Ages, are dominated by one of the world's largest and most famous Gothic cathedrals. Home to Jules Verne, supports over 35 miles of canals and is the region's educational and commercial center. Amiens's largest employers are Goodyear, Valeo, Dunlop, and Procter & Gamble. It is also home to an electrical and electronic engineering school and the University of Picardie-Jules Verne. Amiens has other sister city relationships in Germany and Great Britain.
